My weekend…

Friday we all gathered for the England game after school, teachers and students alike – had a great time at Il Tunnel who shows the games outside on a giant screen.  We watched the England/US game here too but this time one of our teachers was smart enough to reserve as a table, so we had excellent seats.

After that, we all headed over to what appears to be the closest thing to a pub in this city, Mill Inn.  I actually got by here last weekend too and am quickly coming to think of it fondly.  It’s no Landmark, but then, what is?  The one way it beats Landmark so far (okay, two – it’s in Italy…) is that they let me stay until unreasonable hours of the morning.  I made friends with some delightful Englishmen as we tried to figure out exactly what all the scenarios are for the games on the 23rd. [Wondering?  The NY Times did it in many less hours than we did...]  And then, successfully navigated myself and neighbor Christian home!  Hooray for progress! ha.

In my humble opinion, the best thing to do with not enough sleep and a slight hangover is to be horizontal on a beach in the sun.  Fortunately, we already had that on tap for the day – possible weather implications be damned.  So, Catherine, Giuseppe, Christian and I headed to an out of town beach for the day.  This was my first forray to a beach outside of Alghero.  Doesn’t sound like it should make a big difference, but the lack of tourists [I know, I'm still one of them...] and considerably fewer Senegalese sales people [more detailed post coming on this soon] did make for a pleasant afternoon.  Plus, the weather held out for a while.

Evening was another dinner at Al Refettorio and a low key night.

Today has been my first run in Alghero [what a difference a lack of humidity makes!], errands, and catching up on getting you guys emails!  Oh, and calling the pops to tell him Happy Father’s Day!
